Jigsaw (Bury) is a registered charity, based in Bury aiming to promote fun, freedom and independence for disabled people. Jigsaw offers sport and social opportunities for young disabled people aged 13 plus. We support our members to enjoy an active social life, to reach their sporting potential and to maintain a healthy lifestyle by running sports and social activities in the evenings and at weekends.
Jigsaw (Bury) have just returned from an exciting and memorable residential weekend at Bendrigg Trust in Cumbria. The trip included transport, food, accommodation, and a fully staffed programme of indoor and outdoor adventurous activities for a full weekend stay; a 2-night stay from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd November 2024.
17 Jigsaw members attended along with 4 Jigsaw Group Leaders.
Bendrigg Trust specialises in delivering high quality courses for disabled and disadvantaged people, promoting inclusion, encouraging independence, and building self-confidence through the safe provision of adventurous activities a firm favourite with the Jigsaw members!
Jigsaw members participated in the following activities: toasting marshmallows and popcorn around a campfire, relaxing in the sensory room, exploring indoor caves, conquering fears while climbing and abseiling, cycling, dancing through the halls at a disco, zip wire, having fun on the tube slide and perfecting archery.
Feedback from Jigsaw members has been excellent with one member quoting “It was lots of fun socialising with your friends and having a great time!”.
Jigsaw (Bury) would like to thank Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust for granting £2,000 and East Lancashire Masonic Charity for granting £3,100 and The Rank Foundation Pebbles Short Break Grants for granting £600 towards this exciting adventure!
